In Indore, a prominent commercial center in Madhya Pradesh, truckers and transporters believe that introducing an advanced vehicle monitoring system at checkpoints will create a transparent framework and improve the logistics flow. They estimate that around 4,000 commercial vehicles leave Indore daily, a number that rises during festivals. However, they express concerns over the lack of an effective monitoring system hindering the government's efforts to replace check posts with checkpoints and improve the movement of vehicles from the state. President of the Indore Truck Operators and Transport Association, CL Mukati, emphasized the need for a technology-based solution to supervise vehicle movements and prevent disruptions and extortion at checkpoints. Various transport associations have urged the Minister of Transport, Rao Uday Pratap Singh, to implement a tech-based monitoring system for a smooth operation of commercial vehicles. Additionally, they support adopting the Gujarat model and proposed setting up a helpline and an official app for reporting issues. The recent decision by the Madhya Pradesh government to remove all checkposts on its interstate borders has been well-received by transporters advocating for improved transport movement and reduced corruption.
